When Pioneer Design hosts your website, keeping it updated and secure is part of the job. Here's how that works, in plain terms.

A managed server

Sites are hosted on a professionally managed Linux server. Our hosting partner looks after the server itself: the operating system, the web server and the software underneath. We look after everything to do with your site.

Security updates, applied promptly

When a security fix is released for the server or for PHP, the language most websites run on, it's applied across the whole server, and we confirm that it's in place. You don't need to do anything.

Software kept current

As part of ongoing maintenance, we move sites to supported versions of PHP and Craft CMS. Each upgrade is tested on a copy of the site before it goes live, so the switch is quiet for you and your visitors.

Each site in its own space

Every hosting account runs walled off from the others, so a problem on one site stays contained to that site.

Protection from bad traffic

The server runs Imunify360, a security system that screens incoming traffic and turns away known attackers and abusive bots before they reach your site.

Secure connections

Sites are served over HTTPS, with SSL certificates that renew automatically.

Backups before changes

Before we make a change to a site, we back up its files and database first, so any change can be rolled back quickly if needed.

If something comes up

If anything ever needs your attention, we'll email you with what happened and what we did about it.
